It is well-known for its natural gas and oil deposits. Qatar is also one of the most visited countries in the world. Qatar receives around 2.136 million tourists each year. 

Is It Safe To Travel To Qatar?

Yes! Qatar is a very safe country to visit. It has a low crime rate, with violent crimes, particularly against foreigners, being extremely rare. Petty theft does occur, but it is uncommon; however, credit card scams have been reported, so avoid using ATMs outside.

 General policies:

  • Based on worldwide and local health risk factors, as well as the epidemiology of Covid-19 in different nations, Qatar has divided countries into two lists: Green and Red, as well as a supplemental list of Exceptional Red Countries.
  • Citizens and residents of Qatar are free to go abroad at any time as long as they follow the travel and return policy when returning to Qatar.
  • The Ministry of Public Health recommends individuals and residents follow COVID-19 health regulations in their destination country.
  • Before arranging a trip to Qatar, travelers must stay up to speed on any changes to the travel and return policies through official sources.
  • To prevent the transmission of COVID-19, travelers must follow Qatar's COVID-19 regulations at all times.
  • Non-residents of Qatar must register on the www.ehteraz.gov.qa website using the pre-registration system for people entering the State of Qatar and upload all essential documents, including vaccination certificates, at least three days before arrival. Although pre-registration is optional for Qatari citizens and residents, the Ministry of Public Health suggests that all visitors to Qatar do so to provide the best possible experience. Furthermore, during the electronic pre-registration process, a PCR test result is no longer required. Instead, to board the plane, passengers must present an original copy of the PCR test result to the airlines or at the country's ports (land and sea). It's worth noting that the Ministry of Public Health has the power to conduct random examinations.
  • Using a local or international SIM card, travelers should download the Ehteraz mobile application and activate it on their phones.
  • Before arrival in Qatar, all travelers must complete an Undertaking and Acknowledgement Form. The form can be found on the Ministry of Public Health's website, as well as the pre-registration platform's website (www.ehteraz.gov.qa) and the airline's online booking form. This requirement is waived for citizens and residents who are fully vaccinated upon arrival in Qatar from one of the Green List nations.
  • Travelers must take a PCR test result to a medical establishment in their departure country that has been authorized by the health authorities. The test must be negative and completed 72 hours before arriving in Qatar. (For more information, please consult the examination policy.
  • Travelers should read the quarantine rules for specific instructions based on their country of origin classification.
  • In the case of home quarantine, the accommodations must be suitable, and if the property does not meet the undertaking's requirements, the traveler must purchase a hotel quarantine package on Discover Qatar's website before traveling to Qatar.
  • In the event of any COVID-19-related symptoms, travelers arriving in Qatar should attend the COVID-19 test clinic at the entrance port and take the required isolation measures.
  • These restrictions apply to all arrivals in Qatar, regardless of the entry point.

Vaccination Rules:

  • A positive laboratory antibody test is required before traveling to Qatar for those who have received two doses of conditionally approved vaccines within 14 days of the second dosage, in which case only the traveler will be deemed fully immune.
  • People who have received two doses of a conditionally approved vaccine, followed by one dose of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, will be regarded as fully immune 14 days following the last dosage.
  • Travelers who have been vaccinated outside of Qatar using a vaccine recognized by Qatar's Ministry of Public Health must produce the original vaccination certificate, as well as other supporting documentation in Arabic or English, demonstrating that they have received the vaccine:
  1. The traveler's name must match the name on his or her passport.
  2. Dates of vaccination, according to vaccine type (one dose for Jansen vaccine and two doses for other vaccines).
  3. Vaccine type/name.
  4. The vaccination batch's serial number (if any).
