All you Need to Know About Horseback Archery in Qatar

 

Have you heard about horseback archery? This is basically a traditional technique used for hunting involving a trained rider capable of accurately shooting an arrow from a bow while riding on a horse. Over time, the practice of horseback archery spread into Eastern Europe, to Mesopotamia, and eventually to the far reaches of East Asia. By now horseback archery in Qatar is getting popular.

By now intensive courses for horseback archery are available in Qatar at different centers for those who are able to ride and love horse-riding archery. Archery and Horseback Archery make it happen by 

Archery and horseback archery is offered by the Qatar Horseback Archery society. All Types of Archery are welcomed, Compound bows,re-curved bows, traditional bows, and horseback archery... it's up to the members to make it happen in Qatar! Al Attiyah said once in a competition  that the horseback archery competition is spread in many countries and is one of the heritage sports and is expected to grow in Qatar in the future

Fuad Al Mudahka, President of Horseback Archery Society, confirmed that Qatar is the third country in the region to organize this competition

Men’s Category Winners

Al Nashaab Championship was the first horseback shooting competition organized by the Qatar Equestrian Federation and Modern Pentathlon. This competition was hosted with the collaboration of the Horseback Archery Society at the outdoor arena of the Qatar Equestrian Federation.

Badr Mubarak Al-Marri was nominated as the winner in the men’s category with enough tough competition. He mounted Mokhlis scoring 22.37 points

Abdulaziz Al Qahtani came second in the horseback archery competition in Qatar with 20.92 points with not a big difference from the winner.

Ali Al Kuwari of Izz Alzobara was third with a score of 19.51 points.

Youth Category Winners

Abdullah Al Jumaili was the topper on his horse Fajer with 20.72 points. 

Abdul Rahman Al Hajri on his horse Izz Alzobara was second with 18.94 points.

Muhammad Al Jumaili on Fajer horse was at third position with an 18.65 point score.

The winners were praised for the good turnout of horseback archery pointing out that the championship is one of the competitions that the federation aims to set up in order to support sports tourism in the country by the president of Qatar. He makes sure that in the future the federation will work to host the championship at an international level and that QEF is happy to include it in the annual calendar. The Horseback Archery Society along with the Qatar Equestrian Federation are working in collaboration with each other to prepare Qatari horseback archers at their best. Their aim is to show the talent of Horseback archery in Qatar beyond the axis being the national teams in international tournaments.
